Vanni Pettinà

Training and Professional experience

Vanni Pettinà holds a PhD in Contemporary History from the University Complutense of Madrid (2010) and a BA in Political Sciences from the University of Florence (2004). Between 2007 and 2010 he was Ph.D. Fellow at the Human and Social Sciences Center of the Spanish National Research Council in Madrid, Postoctoral Visiting Fellow at NYU in 2010 and in 2011 he held a Kluge Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Library of Congress, Washington D.C. He has taught at UNAM and the International History Department of the London School of Economics. He is currently Assistant Professor of Latin American and Mexican International History and the Center for Historical Studies of El Colegio de México and Associate Researcher at the the Latin American Foreign Affairs Program of the LSE-IDEAS Centre.

Research lines

He is carrying out research work in the Comparative Studies Team on Caribbean and Atlantic World (GECCMA), where he is undertaking studies on Political History of International Relations in the XX century. He is focused on political relations between the USA and Latin America, paying special attention to the interaction between USA's foreign policy and Latin American nationalism at the outset of the Cold War.
